Specialist College Status has enabled us to raise standards and develop a Business, A Food DishEnterprise and Technology culture which permeates our Colleges.

We offer

Design and Technology Curriculum Area


                   
All students follow a Design and Technology curriculum at Key Stage 3, comprising of four specialist areas, Electronic Products, Food Technology, Resistant Materials and Textiles Technology; all subjects incorporate ICT and graphics.  Year 7 and 8 also follow the Licence to Cook programme. Year 9 work on a Business and Enterprise  project designing products which can be manufactured in bulk.

Students can continue with Design and Technology through Key Stage 4 with the AQA  GCSE full Course specifications in Electronic Products, Food Technology, Graphic Products, Resistant Materials and Textiles Technology.

 We offer GCSE Vocational courses: the Double Award in Health and Social Care, BTEC Construction and the Built Environment, Hair and Beauty and Child Care.

The Design and Technology fast track route is a well established in our Colleges, many students follow an early entry GCSE  in Year 10 then have the opportunity to gain a second Technology subject in Year 11. This provides an opportunity to gain an extra recognised qualification.
