Gifted and Talented
In The Durham Federation we recognise that some of our students have the talents and academic potential to match the very best of their age in the country, and we welcome our responsibility to nurture and encourage them to fulfill this potential. Several of our Curriculum Areas enter their most gifted students early for GCSE courses, some challenge the students to complete GCSE short courses in a year and others have introduced new courses that are designed to stretch the very best. Students are given the opportunity to represent the College in local and National events such as Math’s Challenges, Science competitions, Engineering Challenges and The Future Business Magnates Competition . In addition we organise visits to Universities, Sixth Form Colleges and arrange talks from external professionals so that these students are fully aware of the opportunities that exist for them as they progress through their education and on towards their future careers.
