Food for Life Flagship Status Award
The Durham Federation has been awarded the prestigious Flagship Status by the Food for Life Partnership to become one of only four schools in County Durham to achieve this level. This award recognises student expertise in growing and cooking food within the Federation Colleges and the commitment by Taylor Shaw (Federation meals provider) to work with the SNAG team to deliver high quality meals. We will receive extra funding, consultancy time and equipment to be used within the Federation Colleges.
During February 2011, the Federation will be hosting the Food for Life Food Bus. This will provide Federation and Partner Primary Students, Staff and Parents/Carers with the opportunity to develop their cooking skills working alongside Food for Life chefs.
As a Flagship we will be working with Partner Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Community Groups to develop growing and cooking skills as well as continuing to develop our own facilities.

This award is presented by UNICEF and looks at young people’s rights in our colleges and how as a Federation we listen to our young people and encourage them to become involved in the decisions within our college, but also encouraging each individual to take responsibility for their actions.
