The Durham Federation Student Council

This year the Student Council has gone from strength to strength. We have 120 members across the Federation from Year 7 - 11.  Students are elected through their individual Tutor Groups but can also be co-opted by staff and students.  Throughout the year, students take part in a range of training from Student Receptionist Training to Peer Mentoring Training.  This has ensured that a group of students have now also had training to look at and discuss positively their learning experiences within various classrooms.  Students have also been involved in academic mentoring, bid writing and leading the ECO group across The Durham Federation.

12 students are working on a study garden at DCBC and at FCC they have been involved in various fundraising and marketing events to raise awareness of the environment and the community in which they live.

This year has seen DCBC receive their Investing in Children award for the second year and FCC receiving theirs for the first year ensuring that as a Federation the students are always at the centre of everything.
